OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 July 2009 was announced, that Steel output of Zhlobin-based Belarusian Metallurgical Plant (BMZ) amounted to 1.265 million tonnes in January-June, up 0.9% on the year, an official with the plant told.

Rolled stock output increased 4.8% on the year in the period to 1.075 million tonnes.

Steel pipe output amounted to 20,800 tonnes, down 3.5% year-on-year.

Hardware goods output decreased 19.4% on the year to 125,600 tonnes. Metal cord output went down 23.5% to 37,000 tonnes.

BMZ’s output in monetary terms decreased 7.3% on the year in January-June to 1.584 trillion Belarusian RURles (Br).

State company Belarusian Metallurgical Plant was launched in 1984. BMZ exports about 85% of its output. Non-CIS countries account for more than 70% of the BMZ’s exports.
