OREANDA-NEWS. July 20, 2009. Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard (MNP Group) has launched the first tanker for KazMorTransFlot (Kazakhstan). The vessel called Atyrau is the first oil tanker being built by Krasnoye Sormovo for KazMorTransFlot National Maritime Shipping Company. The delivery of the first tanker is scheduled for September 2009, the second and the third – in May and August 2010. 

13,470-dwt tanker is designed for transportation of crude oil and oil products with flash point less than 60 Celsius degrees. Double side and double bottom of the hull (fitted with 12 cargo tanks with total capacity of 14770 cub. m., one slop tank and ballast compartments) prevent from oil spillage at accident.

The tanker can carry three types of oil products and operate in different weather conditions in regions with cold-temperature marine climate. The vessel’s length is 150 m, breadth – 17.30 m, depth – 10.5 m, draft – 7.14 m, speed – 10 knots, crew - 20 persons, cruising capacity – 20 days. Designed by Volgo-Caspian Design Bureau. Class – КМ   ICE   RI AUT1 oil tanker (ESP) of the Russian Maritime Registry of Shipping.

The vessel is highly maneuverabile owing to twin-shaft propulsion complex and lateral thrust unit. It is capable of entering any port  of the Caspian Sea equipped with oil terminals.
