OREANDA-NEWS. On 30 July 2009 CenterTelecom OJSC announced that starting it began providing broadband Internet access services through FTTx technology to the inhabitants of Ryazan. The installed capacity of FTTx ports is 2,928.

Since 2008, CenterTelecom has implemented FTTx technology on basis of inter-regional data transmission network in all regions of the Central Federal District of the Russian Federation. Currently parts of the network in all branches of the company have been put into operation. At present the installed capacity of all CenterTelecom ports is over 56,000. According to the company's forecasts by late 2009 CenterTelecom's FTTx installed capacity will exceed 172,000 ports.

Successful implementation and development of FTTx technology will allow the company to strengthen its position in the Central Russia market, to improve the quality of its services, to deploy a more flexible tariff policy, and also to let the subscribers to evaluate the company's newest telecommunications services.
