OREANDA-NEWS. On 31 August 2009 was announced, that a drinking water plant, built by Turkish company "Polimeks", was put into operation at the farmers associations named after M. Sopyev of Ak Bugday district of Akhal province. The new plant's capacity is 250 thousand cubic meters of water per day. It is the fourth plant in Turkmenistan to supply Turkmen capital with clean water, the Ashgabat city administration said.

Water quality is ensured by a multi-stage cleaning system. Water from Karakum River will initially settle in a special water reservoir with the capacity of 1 million cubic meters, and then will be supplied directly to the plant to undergo phased clarification, filtration and chemical decontamination. After that, with the help of a nearly 10-km long conduit, purified water will be pumped to reservoir park "Gundogar" of the Ashgabatagyzsuv Trust under the Ashgabat city administration and will be further distributed among districts of the capital city.

The production process at the plant is based on modern energy saving technologies. Special equipment was purchased from the leading manufacturers of Germany and Italy.

A video film about the plant operations and its contemporary production technologies was demonstrated to the participants of the inauguration ceremony, among whom there were representatives of ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, leaders of urban and regional administration, honorable elders and students.
