OREANDA-NEWS. September 04, 2009. In January-August, 2009, Batumi Oil Terminal decreased transshipment of crude and oil products by 26.6%, year-on-year, to 3.969 million tonnes. In August, the terminal handled 629,000 tonnes (+18% against July and +22.8%, year-on-year).

The company says the growth was driven mainly by increased transportation of oil (496,200 tonnes against 421,600 tonnes in July and +394,300 tonnes, yoy.

In January-August, oil transshipment fell 6.9%, year-on-year, to 3.192 million tonnes; gasoline – fell 3 times to 120,700 tonnes), diesel fuel – 5.5 times to 148,400 tonnes, heavy fuel oil - 8 times to 57,800 tonnes while transshipment of aviation kerosene increased 45 times to 135,000 tonnes, naphta – by 72% to 120,700 tonnes.

From February 2008, Batumi Oil Terminal is owned by Kazakh state oil firm KazMunaiGaz which purchased its assets and the right to manage Batumi seaport from international investment group Greenoak Holdings. In 2008, the terminal decreased transshipment by 24.8%, year-on-year, to 7.15 million tonnes.
