OREANDA-NEWS. September 04, 2009. The important aspects of further development of the agricultural sector to achieve the goals of the large-scale agricultural reform initiated by the President of Turkmenistan were the focus of the meeting of the Turkmen agro-industry specialists. The high-ranking officials and specialists of the agricultural and water enterprises and the research institutes, as well as deputy khyakims of the velayat and etrap in charge of the agricultural issues conducted the forum in the conference hall of the Turkmen Atlary State Association.

Addressing the meeting Vice Premier M. Akmammedov reported on the progress in development of the agricultural sector in compliance with the President’s strategy for technology modernization of the basic sector of the national economy aimed at bringing it up to a qualitatively new, higher level.

The participants focused on a wide range of the priority aspects of agro industry development and the issues related to management and organisation of the season agricultural campaigns and land treatment activities. The specialists specified the necessary measures aimed at further increasing of agricultural output including full-scale use of resources, adoption of advanced technologies, improvement of farming standards, effective operation of agricultural machines and equipment, etc. They paid special attention to interrelation between of agricultural science and production. Thus, the scientists would apply the innovations and research outcomes on agricultural fields. As is known, this aspect is a key component of the Turkmen leader’s agricultural reforms that prioritizes development of agricultural science.

Discussing the issues of current importance the specialists focused on the need to hold the cotton picking campaign in a timely manner and without losses, ensure uninterrupted delivery of cotton to the receiving points and create the necessary conditions for cotton-growers. The agricultural specialists discussed the aspects of the winter crops sowing campaign and noted that the future yield would depend on the success of the campaign.

The participants discussed the other issues related to livestock breeding and the preparations for the winter period in particular.

The participants received the set of the educational aids on cultivation of various agricultural crops.
