OREANDA-NEWS. On 7 September 2009 was announced, that the Belarusian government mulls the advisability of special regulations to advance logistical projects in Belarus, a source in the Transport Ministry told.

A special commission was supposed to prepare a presidential ordinance on logistical business by 2009, a source in the government told.

The Transport Ministry and Economy Ministry had drafted an ordinance of the president to offer preferences to developers of logistical centers.

Simultaneously, a draft presidential decree was prepared to simplify registration of logistical centers and exempt developers from customs duties on imports of equipment.

In March, both documents were submitted to the government and it was decided to combine them into a single document.

“But the president has recently signed decree #10 to facilitate investment in Belarus, a comprehensive document for investors, which raised the question of expediency of separate logistics regulations,” the source said.

Overall freight turnover of Belarusian transport and logistics centers will reach 25 million – 30 million tonnes annually by 2015, in accordance with the logistics expansion program until 2015, approved by resolution #1249 of the government in 2008.
