OREANDA-NEWS. September 22, 2009. A planned audit of the occupational safety system has been completed at Uralkali (Berezniki, Perm Territory). Occupational safety experts of the Perm State Technical University (PSTU) focused on occupational safety management issues, interaction with subcontractors operating in the company’s area, and occupational safety systems at its mines. The audit also included the Building and Installation Group BShSU, Uralkali’s subsidiary specialized in installation and repair.

In 2005 the company certified its workstations and occupational safety systems to obtain a Safety Certificate (Certificate of Conformity of Occupational Safety Efforts with Government Regulatory Requirements). In 2009, in compliance with the legislation, a special board of the Occupational Safety Certification Agency carried out a planned audit of certified occupational safety systems in Uralkali.

The Board of Experts confirmed that Uralkali’s safety systems were aimed at providing and ensuring safe labor conditions and complied with the requirements of labor laws and government regulatory requirements applicable to occupational safety. Based on the audit’s results, the Certificate of Conformity was renewed until January 2011.

Sergey DYAKOV, Deputy Director General of Uralkali:

“We are consistent in our efforts to ensure safe labor conditions for our employees, and the workplace certification is in line with this goal. It gives us a view of actual labor conditions and enables us to improve them to minimize the risk of industrial accidents and illness in the workplace. Our measures in this area are ongoing, and we have created a new workplace certification division in the occupational and industrial safety department.”

Grigory FAYNBURG, Chairman of the Board of Experts, Director of the Perm Territory Occupational Safety Centre at Perm State Technical University:

“Uralkali views the Government’s regulatory requirements for occupational safety as a priority. The company maintains and constantly upgrades its efficient occupational safety management system that primarily focuses on preventing industrial accidents and illness in the workplace. The Board of Experts has concluded that Uralkali complies with all occupational safety requirements.”
