OREANDA-NEWS. September 23, 2009. Azerbaijan keeps on increasing efforts in order to reduce dependence of the country’s economics from power sector.

Today, Natig Aliyev, Azerbaijani Minister of Industry and Energy, said at the 10th International Ecological and Energy Congress, being held in Baku,  non-oil sector of Azerbaijani economics develops against the background of successful development of oil sector.

“Only within  5 years investments in the non-oil sector of economics  grew by 5.7 times,” N.Aliyev said.

The country also strives for reducing energy consumption to an unit of GDP.

“The Agency for Renewable and Alternative Energy Sources was already established in the country. The agency possesses wide authorities. At that, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev charged to implement several pilot projects in this sphere,” N.Aliyev said.
