OREANDA-NEWS. October 8, 2009. Investments into the development of the Far Eastern Railways will amount RUB 24 billion in 2010. It will be RUB 1 billion more compared to 2009.

This year, investments in railways in the Far East totaled RUB 22.5 billion.

The projects for 2010 have already been approved. The list of the most important projects includes the construction of the new Kuznetsovsky Tunnel in the Khabarovsk Territory, which will make it possible to increase the throughput capacity of the railway to the sea port Vanino and Sovetskaya Gavan threefold, as well as construction of stations and sidings at the Baikal-Amur Railway.

One thirds of the investments will be spent on upgrade of locomotive and railcar fleet, writes Russian Transport Daily Report.
