OREANDA-NEWS. December 9, 2009. The 2nd International Exhibition and Scientific Conference on the Basic Trends in the Development of Power Industry in Turkmenistan continue their work at the Exhibition Centre. The forum organizers – the Ministry of Energy and Industry of Turkmenistan, the Turkmen Academy of Sciences and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan created the conditions conducive to building a fruitful dialogue and exchanging experience among the scientists and specialists of our country and their foreign colleagues.

The specialists of the Turkmen enterprises, organisations, ministries and departments had the detailed and fruitful dialogue with the heads and managers of the foreign companies at the exhibition. They held the business meetings in the special rooms at the Exhibition Centre. The preliminary talks focused on the technical characteristics and performance capabilities of up-to-date equipment, materials and technologies offered by the leading foreign power companies to Turkmen partners.

The detailed dialogue on the possibilities of developing mutually advantageous partnership in the particular areas of the power sector was continued during the scientific conference, which was conducted in the conference hall of the Exhibition Centre. The reports presented at the conference focused on the issues of reliability and stability of electric power supply to large cities and efficient use of the alternative energy sources.

In particular, the German company Siemens offered the concept of development of the power supply network in Ashgabat to the Turkmen specialists for consideration, the American company General Electric presented the power transmission and distribution technologies. The specialists of other companies made the reports on the latest developments in power transformers failure prevention, the effective decisions on effective electric power supply and procurement of state-of-the-art equipment to meet the electric power needs of the megalopolises.

A conference section particularly focused on the promising trends in the development of power industry such as alternative energy. The top managers of the western companies presented their developments in production and conservation of electric power through using renewable sources. The participants made the reports on the use of the solar accumulators for autonomous power supply systems and photovoltaic technologies in Turkmenistan.

The scientists and specialists of the Turkmen Polytechnic Institute and the Sun Institute made presentations of the developments in the use of alternative energy. In particular, they told about the resources and energy efficiency of the solar and wind power plants in Turkmenistan, on the successful practices of using the wind and solar systems to ensure uninterrupted electric power supply.

Upon concluding the official part of the scientific conference the forum participants visited the Ashgabat State power station and the Turkmenbashi cable railway. The foreign visitors had an opportunity to learn about the operation of these facilities that had been built by using advanced technologies and equipment manufactured by the world’s leading companies.
