OREANDA-NEWS. January 11, 2010. The roundtable “Publicity as a Conscious Choice: Information Policy of Companies under New Conditions” was held in the press center of the information agency Ukrainian News under the auspices of the Ukrainian Association on Investor Relations. The participants of the roundtable included regulators and experts of the stock market, representatives of shareholders and issuers, namely: Nikolai Burmaka, head of Expert Council on Corporate Management, Andrei Rybalchenko, director-general of Ukrainian Association of Investment Business, Diana Smakhtina, vice-president of Sigma Bleyzer, Rostislav Lukach, director of the Investment Department at the State Investment and Innovation Agency, and Oleg Tkachenko, CEO of Ukrainian Exchange. Investor Relations Agency co-organized the event.

The urgency of event was confirmed by the newly enacted Law of Ukraine “On Joint-Stock Companies.” According to this document, the management and shareholders of joint-stock companies are urged to make a strategic choice about weather to become transparent and open or to continue developing their companies in a format, which is not that open for the public.

Oranta is the most public company of the insurance market; its activity is based on openness and transparency. Ms. Alena Kulakova, head of press service of Oranta's supervisory board, took part in the discussion of the roundtable topic. She presented a report on why publicity is the only possible way for conducting successful business and explained the topic by giving examples of the situations that the company found itself.
