OREANDA-NEWS. January 11, 2010. Belarus is ready to increase supplies of dairy products to Russia, if Russia needs them, President Alexander Lukashenko said during a news conference.

“If the Russian administration and Russia want more Belarusian products, Onischenko [Russia’s chief sanitary inspector] should get back to the negotiating table and lift all restrictions. Also, Russia should negotiate prices with the 30 Belarusian dairies that will be able to increase supplies. We are always ready to back Russians,” Lukashenko said.

He admitted that the “milk war” with Russia in 2009 was the reason why he missed the Collective Security Treaty Organization summit in Moscow.
