OREANDA-NEWS. March 19, 2010. Yandex.Maps rolled out “Panoramic views” of streets in Kyiv. Now, web users have an opportunity to armchair travel to the banks of the Dnieper River, see the House with Chimeras or take a walk along Kreschatik.
The panoramic view option is handy for those who tend to get lost in a new city – now they can see what their destination looks like before they set off on their trip. And those who live in the Ukrainian capital can share the link to the images of their home with friends in other cities or even take them around to show Saint Sophia Cathedral, the historical Andriyivskyy Descent or the open-air museum Pyrohiv.
In all, 800 km of Kyiv’s streets including the downtown and suburbs are now featured on Yandex.Maps. So, the neighborhood views are now available not only for the residents of Pechersk or the Podil, but also for those living in the Obolon, Troeshina or Borschagovka. The city’s streets have been photographed during the past fall – so, there isn’t a single blooming chestnut tree in sight – but Kyiv is beautiful in all seasons. Panoramic views of the city have been created in partnership with neq4. To read more about how panoramic views are made, visit the company blog (in Russian).
In addition to panoramic views of Kyiv, Yandex.Maps also offers the city map with local search in Russian and Ukrainian. Web users can also find locations on satellite images or look at maps of the local road junctions. Company search and traffic map are also available.
