OREANDA-NEWS. July 05, 2010. Chemical and engineering companies have become the most energy-efficient among the large heat and electricity consumers for the 2 straight years. Under the Energy Co-operation Contest 2010 results which was by IES-Holding in 16 regions of the RF, they won 17% of prize places in nomination “Big Business”, having received in sum 20 “Energy Effect of the Year” prizes.

Within the year, the companies-winners have performed the series of events which allowed increasing the energy efficiency. For instance, they installed electronic devices for measuring heat energy and hot water, as well as the equipment allowing automatically regulate the energy consumption. They reconstructed the heat isolation of pipelines and buildings, and flushed heating systems. 

In nominations “State, municipal, and social sphere enterprises” and “Small and medium business companies” the majority of “Energy Effect of the Year” prizes were granted to medical institutions (23%), Institutes of Higher Education (21%), and retail enterprises (20%).

The majority of holders of “Energy Vampire of the Year” anti-prizes are housing and public services companies. They received 10 of 16 “Energy Vampires”.

The Contest results were summarized in the end of May - beginning of June. 306 legal persons – heat and electricity consumers - took prizes at the solemn ceremonies. Over 6500 enterprises and organizations took part in the Contest.  Besides IES representatives the jury included the representatives of regional governments, Mass Media, ecological organizations and sectoral experts.  The expert support was provided by the Center of energy-efficient decisions “Giprokommunenergo”. 

The main goal of the Energy Cooperation Contest is to reveal and encourage the most efficient electricity and heat consumers. The basic criteria of selection of winners include the scope of introduction of energy-efficient technologies and application of up-to-date energy consumption measuring and monitoring systems. The prize-winning places were distributed in seven nominations: “Big Business”, “Small and Medium Business Companies”, “State, Municipal, and Social Sphere Enterprises”, “Agricultural Enterprises”, “Householders Societies, and Housing and Public Services Municipal Enterprises”, and “Network Companies”.

 “This year the Energy Cooperation Contest is held for the second time. Its results demonstrate that year by year the number of participants and nominees increases, as well as the interest to the Contest on the part of experts and Mass Media. This means that year by year the participation in the Contest becomes more honorable and the win – more important and weighty”, Mikhail Slobodin the President of IES-Holding noted.
