OREANDA-NEWS. July 13, 2010. Lenta has opened its first hypermarket in the city of Cherepovets on ulitsa Godovikova, 37, at the “June Mall” complex as an anchor tenant.

The opening marks the 37th store Lenta has in Russia. It is poised to be the leading retail chain in the city. The store consists of 5,795 sq. meters of which 3,485 sq. meters is retail space and is stocked with 13,000 SKUs including both food and non-food items (slightly less than the number of SKUs found in the firm’s standard hypermarket format consisting of 12,500 sq. m.). There are 16 cash registers in the store and over 700 parking spaces in the mall complex.

Oleg Buyalskiy, Operations Director of Lenta LLC, explains, “This segment of the retail market here in Cherepovets is yet to fully develop and we are very pleased to be an anchor tenant in the June Mall. We look forward to working together with our colleagues and local producers in Cherepovets for many years to come and growing together with the city and region.”

Lenta offers a wide arrange of both food and non-food products at its hypermarkets including fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, meat, fish, bakery, and a limited assortment of non-food products specially chosen for the store and its customers.

In addition to the assortment, Lenta offers traditionally low prices on high quality goods with the highest of service levels. Our discount card guarantees that our customers receive discounts of at least 5% on all of our goods. More savings can be had, from 30% up to 70% in some instances, on those items that are on special offer either in our circulars or with other special seasonal catalogues we put out.

Vjacheslav Abramov, Director of the Lenta hypermarket in Cherepovets notes, “The people here have waited a long time for a federal retail chain like Lenta to come and operate in the region. I am very excited that we are able to bring 200 jobs to the city.”

Lenta opened its last hypermarket in early April of 2009 in the city of Omsk. Currently, Lenta is building hypermarkets of 12,500 sq.m. in both Rostov-on-Don and in Pskov.
