OREANDA-NEWS. August 03, 2010. Year-to-date freight flows volume passing through Vostochny Port Company (Primorsky Territory) rose to 8,606,800 tons, or up 3% over the same period a year earlier, the company’s operational data said.

This July Vostochny Port has seen 1,247.700 tons of cargo, 11 percent down from last year’s July.

Specialized Coal Handling Facility (PPK-3) in seven recent months handled 7,112,800 tons of coal, which corresponds to the level of last year. In July the volume of coal through PPK-3 amounted to 984.400 tons of coal, 18% less than that of July, 2009.

In Jan-July, PPK-1, the versatile production and transshipment complex (PPK-1) handled 1,494,000 tons of various cargoes. In comparison with the same period last year, cargo turnover grew by 16%. In July, freight flows passing via PPK-1 surged by 32% from July, 2009, to 263,300 tons.

Vostochny Port, the largest stevedoring company in the Russia’s Far East, focuses on coal transshipment. Vostochny Port’s assets include Specialized Coal Handling Complex (PPK-3) and Versatile Production and Transshipment Complex (PPK-1) for transshipment general and bulk cargo (such as coal, clinker, coke, iron ore, timber, etc.). The company’s facilities allow handling metals, cellulose, alumina, chemicals, oversized and heavy-load cargoes. Last year Vostochny Port posted a 3-percent drop in freight volume, to 14,585.800 tons.
