OREANDA-NEWS. December 02, 2010.  The Irkutsk branch of JSC Freight One has entered into an agreement with LLC Elektromniya on the transportation of transmission lines to the Amur region. The reinforced concrete structures are intended for the construction of the unique VL—500 power line, which is to run across the Amur River from the Russian shoreline to the Chinese.

Builders are currently erecting the first phase of the VL—500 project in the border zone. JSC Freight One will deliver more than 60 platforms with reinforced concrete structures along the Irkutsk-Blagoveshchensk railway in December this year, and more than 50 in January next year, for the construction of supports and installation of electrical equipment. The line is expected to be commissioned in late 2011.

In the Amur region, three crossover transmission lines are currently in operation between Russia and China. The Sivak-Shipachzhan power line is temporarily out of service. Two others, with transmission voltages of 110 and 220 kilovolts respectively, supply energy only to the Chinese border regions. The new line will be more powerful, and also provide power to the northern regions of China as far as Harbin.
