OREANDA-NEWS. January 31, 2011.A meeting of the Working Group on Modernizing Mono-Cities under the Governmental Commission on Economic Development and Integration was held at Vnesheconombank.

The meeting participants’ main goal was to make a list of mono-cities seeking the state’s support in 2011. A condition for participating in the program of government measures for supporting mono-cities is the availability of large-scale well-prepared investment projects on the territory of mono-cities, with the projects claiming for receiving financing above all with Vnesheconombank’s participation and aimed at diversifying mono-cities’ economy.

The meeting resulted in making a preliminary list of 21 mono-cities. In 8 of them projects are expected to be implemented with Vnesheconombank’s participation. Several projects have already been submitted to Vnesheconombank’s consideration.

A final list of mono-cities is to be made in February of 2011 after the Working Group considers comprehensive mono-cities modernization investment plans assisted by Russian constituent entities administrations, mono-cities administrations and investment projects initiators.

The Government Program of Supporting Mono-Cities designed to diversify mono-cities’ economy has been implemented since the end of 2009.

In 2011, the Working Group under the Governmental Commission on Economic Development and Integration plans to work out proposals to help implement measures provided for by comprehensive modernization investment plans of 15 mono-cities. There are 335 mono-cities in Russia.
