OREANDA-NEWS. February 21, 2011. During the "Hour of Government" in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov answered questions of MP Pavlovsky (BYuT) about "Parents" of Kharkiv agreements and prices and tariffs for utilities raising.

"If you talk about "parents", let us sooner mention the "mother" - reacted the Head of the Government. - Exactly the enslaving agreement with Gazprom, signed by Tymoshenko, has led to a sharp price increase for Russian gas. This pricing formula, which Timoshenko agreed on - unfair and unreasonable for Ukraine - still brings up the price of gas.

Mykola Azarov noted that Kharkiv agreements, providing a discount to the price of 100 USD per thousand cubic meters of gas, allowed to revive immediately the domestic industry, gave a breath, to adapt Ukraine's economy to the growth in energy prices, which all of Europe suffers from, and to make energy upgrades.

"Kharkov agreements have fully justified themselves. If they were not existing, we would pay to Russia huge fines, and the price of gas today would amount to over 400 USD per thousand cubic meters".
