OREANDA-NEWS. March 01, 2011. The XVIII International Economic Forum, organized by the Association for Integration & Cooperation and the National Economy Bank of Poland (BGK) has been held in Torun, Poland, with the main theme "Trans-European System Communications”.

The International Bank of Azerbaijan reports that during the forum it was also held discussion on the Caucasus, in which Zaur Mahmudov, the head of the IBA representative office in Germany, made speech. The forum participants were provided with information about the economic development of Azerbaijan, an analysis of the processes and dynamics of the country’s banking sector and information about the IBA. The Polish side showed great interest to the region and in particular to opportunities of Polish exports to Azerbaijan. The IBA representative outlined IBA’s capacity in the area of financing of Polish exports to Azerbaijan with insurance coverage of Polish Export Agency (KUKE).

The Forum aims to promote economic relations between Polish companies, potential exporters and importers. The forum discussed the current problems in Poland and Europe. Particular attention was paid to the Eastern Partnership, an international trade exchange. Within the state program of foreign trade support BGK was offered financing (with the participation of the importer bank) for importers of Polish products and services. The Polish government has directed about 1.5 billion euro for the program before the end of 2015.

Each year the forum brings together about 1,000 people from 40 countries, among which are leading Polish exporters, trade advisers, representatives of the departments of trade and investment assistance and foreign embassies, reps of foreign banks and companies, including from Central and Eastern Europe, Asia and Caucasus, reps of BGK and insurance companies.
