OREANDA-NEWS. July 21, 2011. The questionnaire to decide the companies for the 2012 Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE) portfolio is available on the website www.isebvmf.com.br. BM&FBOVESPA announced on Tuesday.

The questionnaire was drawn up by the Sustainability Study Center (GVces) of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) and was approved by the ISE Deliberative Council after a public consultation with companies and society, which ended June 24. The eligible companies are on the list of the 200 most traded on the Exchange and must register by July 31 and answer the questions by September 16.

The Index was launched on December 1, 2005, based on methodology developed by GVces and with the financial backing of the International Finance Corporation (IFC). ISE assesses separate sustainability questions as a whole, within the dimensions of General, Nature of the Product, Corporate Governance, Economic-Financial, Social, Environmental, and Climate Change.

The main new feature of the selection process for the 2012 portfolio is in the “General Dimension: Transparency” area, and it allows companies to authorize the publication or not of their answers. Another important alteration regards the “Climate Change” aspect, which was introduced last year and is now worth points in the questionnaire. There has also been a revision of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) indicators and the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) questions. The approved questionnaire also takes into consideration the recently published ISO 26,000 and the Green Protocol indicators, which are a composite of bank commitments to Sustainable Development.

In order to facilitate the identification of the changes there will be two versions of the questionnaire available, with one of them including the marked changes in relation to the 2010 questionnaire.

2010/2011 Portfolio

The Index is made up of a maximum of 40 companies selected according to their performance in the questionnaire and in the process of proving the information that has been supplied. The new portfolio will be announced on November 25 and come into effect on the first business day of 2012.
