OREANDA-NEWS. October 31, 2011. China-based oil firm PetroChina International (Bermuda) announced on Friday it had discovered new gas and condensate reserves in North Klalin, West Papua.

In a press statement, the company said the recent test result of North Klalin-1 exploration well showed that the well produced 5.867 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas with 137 barrels of condensate per day (bcpd). The well was drilled in June 2011 and completed in September 2011.

The discovery was expected to increase the company’s gas production, which currently stands at 7000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd).

“The success of the discovery well is anticipated to be followed by drilling delineation and development wells,” the statement said.
