OREANDA-NEWS. December 05, 2011. Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Valeriu Lazar and the executive director of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA), Carlos Bronzato, discussed prospects for cooperation between WAIPA and the Investment Attraction and Exports Promotion Organization (MIEPO) at a meting, the Economics Ministry's information and media communication service has said.

Lazar said that, given the challenges faced by the world economy, investors had become very selective and want to minimize their production costs. Moldova may offer optimal solutions to investors. Moldova may grant privileged trade regimes both with the European Union and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The Moldovan goods have access to huge sales markets, Lazar said.

In this context, the economic minister noted that the Investment Attraction and Exports Promotion Organization is an interface between the authorities and the private sector, and is permanently in touch with the business environment. The organization's main objective is to attract foreign investments, as well as to promote and develop the exports of goods and services, as well as to diversify the sales markets of the national enterprises. "One cannot speak about serious investments unless we export the goods made on the basis of these investments. At the same time, one cannot increase the exports if there are no investments in the national economy, as these processes are inter-connected," the deputy prime minister said.

Valeriu Lazar also said that MIEPO's affiliation with WAIPA is a very good platform for taking over experience from similar organizations from other countries. "Moldova relies on WAIPA's support to attract new investments in the production of high-value goods, as well as to diversify sales markets. This will help meet the goal of shifting to a new economic model based on investments and export of goods and services," Lazar noted.
