OREANDA-NEWS. December 8, 2011. In November, 19, 2011 in Amman (the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan), in the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) the presentation of the Russian project on construction of the first national NPP was presented in conformity with the tender conditions. JSC Atomstroyexport (a Company of State Corporation Rosatom), as well as JSC Atomenergoproekt,  JSC OKB Hydropress, Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL, JSC Concern Rosenergoatom and Federal Service for Ecological, Technological and Atomic Supervision of the Russian Federation took part in this event. Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Jordan, Mr. A. Kalugin, also attended this presentation.

From the Jordan side Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, K. Abu Kure,  Chairman of the JAEC, H. Tucan, Deputy Chairman of the JAEC,  K. Aradzh, representatives of the JAEC consultant – “Worley Parsons” Company, representatives of the Jordan Finance Ministry, Ministry of Planning

and International Cooperation, Ministry of Environmental Protection, Department of the Jordan Government  responsible for tender arrangement, as well as the General Secretary of Water Resources and foreign JAEC independent consultants attended the presentation.

In the course of the presentation the design features of the project submitted by JSC Atomstroyexport, its reference characteristics, competitive advantages, compliance of the design with the requirements of the Customer taking into account the events at NPP  Fukushima, features of passive and active safety systems of the future NPP  have been considered in detail. The information on licensing and nuclear power plant operation in Russian was provided. The presentation was given in full conformity to the JAEC proposals. According to the assessments of the participants, the information furnished by the Russian side was exhaustive and met the information inquiry of the Jordan Customer.

The tender for construction of the one-unit NPP in Jordan on “turn-key” terms with the option for the second unit was put out in January, 17, 2011. On the 29-th of March, 2011 the Jordan party sent the alterations to the inquiry concerning submission of the tender bid to the bidders, in particular, it was proposed to include the analysis of the proposed design in it taking into consideration the accidents in Japanese NPP Fukushima-1. The required analysis in the context of providing the NPP  safety considering the initial data and failures, which had occurred at NPP Fukushima-1, was performed by JSC Atomenergoproekt and additionally included in the tender bid. Under the tender terms and conditions, the bid was prepared by JSC Atomstroyexport in the  ЕРС-Contract format. On the 30-th of July, 2011 the Company submitted the technical part of the tender bid for NPP construction and on the 14-th of August – its financial part to the JAEC.
