OREANDA-NEWS. December 14, 2011. SORAINEN is advising the Tolaram Group of Singapore and its Estonian subsidiary Horizon Pulp & Paper, a leading sack kraft paper producer, in their preparations to launch a combined heat and power plant (CHP) in Estonia using local biomass, reported the press-centre of SORAINEN.

Annual planned production from this project is 108 GWh of heat and 63 GWh of renewable electricity yearly. The biomass-fuelled CHP project is estimated to cost EUR 30 million and is targeted to be commissioned by end 2014.

The project is to be prepared in partnership with Estonian energy company Eesti Energia. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Sonny Aswani, managing director Estonia of the Tolaram Group, and Sandor Liive, CEO of Eesti Energia, during a visit by Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip to Singapore on 9 Nov 2011.

The SORAINEN team is led by partners Toomas Prangli and Kaupo Lepasepp.
