OREANDA-NEWS. December 14, 2011. Over 20,000t Products for Brazilian Ore Pulp X70 Line Pipe Project Have All Been Delivered to the Customer, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

With the full support of Baosteel Ltd. Manufacture Management Department, etc., Steel Tube, Pipe and Bar Business Unit completed the production contract of over 20,000t for Brazilian Ore Pulp X70 Line Pipe Project with ensured quality and quantity on schedule after 4 months of strenuous efforts. Now the products have all been delivered to the customer. According to the testing by many parties, the technical indicators of the products have reached the customer's requirements completely, symbolizing that Baosteel has possessed the capability to manufacture high steel grade, large diameter and thick wall HFW tubes.

Brazilian Ore Pulp Project completely adopts X70 high steel grade line pipe, among which, 47.9% are the products with wall thickness above 15.9mm, and the maximum wall thickness is 19.1mm, exceeding the specifications in Baosteel HFW product mix. This batch of products features difficult production, high technical requirement, many product specifications and tight delivery time, is the contract of the highest steel grade, largest diameter, thickest wall and largest batch since Baosteel's HFW line was put into production.

Baosteel Ltd. paid much attention to this contract. To ensure the delivery on time, Steel Tube, Pipe and Bar Business Unit adjusted the general production plan. Meanwhile, it set up the project team consisting of Steel Tube, Pipe and Bar Business Unit, Baosteel Ltd. Manufacture Management Department, Baosteel Research Institute and Baosteel Technology Quality Inspection Center, etc. In view of the difficulties in technology, equipment and production, the project team drafted rigorous trial manufacture plan and production precautions. The project team also re-designed the production process with a view to produce the line pipe with a wall thickness of 15.9mm and above, which is exceeding the product mix, on time and with ensured quality. To eliminate the equipment bottleneck, the function and accuracy optimization improvements are made for the operation stability of key equipment, and the new measure of joint inspection is devised.

The large batch supply of Brazilian Ore Pulp Project marks that Baosteel's HFW production steel grade has elevated to X70, and the maximum wall thickness extended from 15.9 mm to 19.1 mm, fully demonstrating Baosteel's manufacturing capability in high steel grade, large diameter and thick wall HFW tubes, and will impose active impact on overseas market exploration of HFW tubes.
