OREANDA-NEWS. February 03, 2012. TNK-BP is to finish drilling six wells at the Russkoe field in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Region in 2012 as part of its preparations for full-scale development of its oil and gas fields in Yamal, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

Intensive commercial operation of the Russkoe field is planned for 2017. The field has 3P PRSM recoverable reserves of 2.25 billion barrels. The oil will be pumped into the Zapolyarnoe - Purpe - Samotlor pipeline, construction of which will enable the Company to begin accelerated development work on all 5 of its Yamal oil fields: Russkoe, Suzunskoe, Tagulskoe, Russko-Rechenskoe and Messoyakhskoe. These fields are expected to account for up to 20% of TNK-BP’s oil production by 2021.

TNK-BP is holding a presentation of the Yamal project in Moscow on February 8 to get its current and potential new contractors and suppliers engaged in this unique project.

According to Thomas Quigley, TNK-BP Vice President, Yamal Oil Area, the commencement of full-format development in Yamal is a “huge step forward for the company. It would be unthinkable for a single contractor to take on this project”, he said. “We are therefore planning to execute it with the involvement and support of dozens of partners”.
