OREANDA-NEWS. February 09, 2012. The network’s school of advanced managerial experience at the Russian Railways’ passenger complex opened in Sochi, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

The event was attended by Michael Akulov, Vice-President of Russian Railways, Vladimir Goloskokov, head of North Caucasus Railways, Maxim Schneider, head of the Corporate Governance Centre for Suburban Transport at Russian Railways, Maxim Artemov, Deputy Head of the Department of Passenger Services at Russian Railways and the heads of suburban railway passenger companies and the Joint Stock Company First Passenger Company, a subsidiary of Russian Railways.

A key theme of the event was developing an effective corporate governance system forpassenger traffic.

In 2011, 995.6 million passengers made use of railway transport services. This year, Russian Railways plans to carry 997.4 million passengers.

The passenger complex has been tasked with reaching the 2008 pre-crisis level of passenger traffic, when over one billion passengers used the railways.

An economic analysis of the railways in 2011 demonstrated the different dynamics ofpassengers who travelled and paying passengers compared to the level of 2010.
