OREANDA-NEWS. February 09, 2012. Prime Minister Mykola Azarov requires conducting complete energy audit in the country. This was announced by the Head of Government during the Cabinet session.

"The country needs a complete energy audit of the thermal power engineering, industrial production, housing and communal services. The instrumental audit, which will give impartial vision of energy consumption and understanding what to focus our limited resources to," said Mykola Azarov, adding that the availability of the conclusion of energy audit should be an obligatory condition for approval of tariff for a particular service. "In another way, we never will achieve validity of tariffs and the fact that people will apprehend them as fair. I instruct the Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services Anatoliy Blyznyuk deeply to study this issue and to prepare relevant proposals," said the Prime Minister.

Thus, Mykola Azarov noted that in Russia such a law has already passed, thus in its based is a concept, developed at the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. "Honestly, it was embarrassing how we do not able to use own potential, including intellectual. Let's at least timely will make conclusions from this lesson," called on the Prime Minister.

Mykola Azarov also informed on the establishment of an interdepartmental working group headed by Finance Minister Valeriy Khoroshkovsky to develop long-term mechanisms to stimulate energy efficiency and development of national and regional programs of energy efficiency which should be accordingly reflected in the budget plans for that period for which they are currently under development - that is till 2015.
