OREANDA-NEWS. February 10, 2012. VOLIA, leading Ukrainian provider of cable television and Internet, announced about plans to introduce during 2012 its new high-definition (HD) service almost in all the cities where VOLIA’s cable TV service provided today by digital technology. Among them will be cities which, like Kiev, will be hosting Euro 2012.

With Kyiv, where HD-package was launched in 2010, VOLIA customers in 14 Ukrainian cities will be able to enjoy various programs in HD-format.

Launch of new technologies will take place in stages:

in April, HDTV is scheduled for launch in the following cities: Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Sevastopol, Lviv, Sumy;

in May, DTV and HDTV will be launched in Donetsk;

in June DTV and HDTV launch is scheduled in Khmelnitsky and Kherson, and HD-package will be launched in Cherkassy;

by the end of the summer HDTV will be offered in Rivne and Zaporizhye, and digital package and HD packages will be simultaneously offered in Krivy Rig.

Package VOLIA HD will include minimum 8 TV-channels, such as:

cognitive: National Geographic HD, Nat Geo Wild HD, Outdoor Channel HD,

travel: Travel Channel HD,

relax: MyZen. TV HD,

fashion and Lifestyle: Fashion One HD,

general: HD Tonіs,

sports: HD-version of Football channel, which will be launched before the opening of Euro-2012.

At the same time, content of the package will continue to expand.

As was announced before, VOLIA’s subscribers will have a unique opportunity to watch live broadcasts of all matches of European Championship both in standard definition and in HD-quality. VOLIA and Media Group Ukraine signed a memorandum of cooperation for 2012–2013 years, which includes launching HD- version of the channel Football.

Clients can order VOLIA HD in addition to any package, starting from basic Ukraine and World.

Today, any VOLIA customer that owns a modern wide-screen TV-set with a built-in TV-tuner that supports DVB-C standard, MPEG-4/Full HD, can watch HD-channels. VOLIA provides these customers with Conditional Access Modules (CAM) and the conditional access cards.

In the coming months, VOLIA also plans to offer to owners of wide-screen Full HD televisions new HD-set-top-boxes.
