OREANDA-NEWS. February 14, 2012. Ukraine has the potential to increase annual grain yield up to 80-100 million tons. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov, speaking to students at the University of Latvia.

"The productivity of our agriculture is considerably lower than that which would enable it to be. We can absolutely easily to reach the yield of about 80, and in the long term also 100 million tons," said Mykola Azarov.

At this the PM stressed that now in many world countries there is a significant lack of food, and Ukraine could have contribute to ensure food security all over the world.

According to the Prime Minister, the Government tasked to provide such conditions that the domestic agricultural complex has been successfully developed.

According to Mykola Azarov, to this, in particular it will contribute implementation of land reform and the creation of fully functioning land market. "It is need to create the high-grade land market that land was a guarantee to come capital to our land , came investments, so that we can build our agriculture on a new basis,"  said the Prime Minister.

He recalled that in 2011 Ukraine harvested 57 million tons of grain.
