Yet the figure indicated an increase of 19.9 percent year-on-year. China imported 920,000 tons of steel products in January, down 270,000 tons month-on-month and 44.1 percent from a year earlier. Steel billet imports were 20,000 tons, down 29.2 percent year-on-year.

Coke exports were 70,000 tons, down 30,000 tons and 64 percent respectively. Iron ore imports totaled 59.32 million tons, down 4.77 million tons and 13.9 percent.
