OREANDA-NEWS. February 20, 2012. APEC Competition Policy and Law Group (CPLG) organized a Round Table on the issues of cooperation, particularly, informational, with competition authorities across the globe, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The Round Table was moderated by Deputy Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) Andrey Tsyganov.

In particular, the Round Table discussed the results, main problems and the prospects of an APEC Project carried out by FAS Russia - “Survey on Information Exchange on Competition in APEC Region: Phase I”.

Vladimir Kachalin, an Assistant to the Head of FAS, and Lesya Davydova, the Head of FAS Department for International Economic Cooperation, took part in a discussion of the project.

Representatives of APEC economies – Japan, the USA, Korea and Russia –talked about their experience of cooperation, particularly, informational, with foreign competition authorities. The Head of the Unit of International Projects, at FAS Department for International Economic Cooperation, Irina Malyanova, made a presentation on “Cooperation with Foreign Competition Authorities”.

Next CPLG meeting will take place in Indonesia under Indonesia’s chairmanship over APEC Forum in 2013.

APEC Project “Survey on Information Exchange on Competition in APEC Region: Phase I” studies possibilities of exchanging information between competition authorities of APEC economies and classification of APEC economies on its basis according to their potential readiness and ability to exchange certain types of information, in particular, on cases on violating the antimonopoly law.

In the future this classification will enable to form a mechanism for exchanging information between APEC economies with similar characteristics.

It is expected that the Project will be completed in November 2012.
