OREANDA-NEWS. February 21, 2012. COSLPromoter, a deepwater semi-submersible drilling platform of China Oilfield Services Limited (“COSL”), has recently completed its trial voyage and returned to the pier successfully after a 22-day journey, reported the press-centre of COSL.

The trial voyage team, comprising 199 staff from COSL, Yantai CIMC Raffles, ship surveyors and contractors, has finished tests and inspections of 31 systems, including thruster, dynamic positioning, echo device, communications, warning system, mooring, lifesaving, un-manned engine room, failure mode and impact analysis, etc. COSLPromoter is the third deep water semi-submersible drilling platform built by Yantai CIMC Raffles, following the successful deliveries of COSLPioneer and COSLInnovator.

The completion of this trial voyage marked a milestone development for the construction of COSLPromoter, kicking start the countdown to the delivery of the drilling platform. The drilling platform is scheduled to be delivered in the second quarter of 2012, and will be set sail later this year to Norwegian North Sea to perform a service contract.

The scheduled trial voyage of COSLPromoter coincided with the Chinese traditional holiday of Chinese New Year, but team members still worked hard at their respective positions. They coordinated nearby onshore resources and solved all problems during the trial to ensure a successful completion of the voyage.
