OREANDA-NEWS. February 24, 2012. Public Company ORLEN Lietuva launches a partial modernization of its Petroleum Refinery Bitumen Production Unit, which will allow increasing the yield of light petroleum products and minimizing the cut of low-value residue. The cost of the one-year-long capital investment project is 84 million LTL, reported the press-centre of ORLEN Lietuva.

Modernization of Visbreaker Vacuum Flasher will allow refining more gasoline, diesel fuel and jet fuel from the same amount of crude oil. Currently ORLEN Lietuva Refinery light petroleum product yield is about 75%; after the modernization it will increase by 2-3 percentage points.

“Higher yield of the most profitable petroleum products will allow the Refinery to raise economic efficiency and thus mitigate unfavourable macroeconomic factors. While continuing our commitment to achieve profitable operations, we will keep seeking to improve our internal performance, reduce expenses and increase sales,” said ORLEN Lietuva General Director Ireneusz Fafara.

Vacuum Flasher Block in ORLEN Lietuva Refinery will be constructed by revamping the existing Bitumen Production Block. Innovative process equipment for modernization of the production process will be supplied by German, Italian, Czech and Russian manufacturers.

In Mid-December 2011, ORLEN Lietuva launched the construction of the Sulphur Granulation Units, which will allow improving sulphur transportation possibilities and expand export markets. The cost of this environmental project is 38 million LTL.

100 per cent of the shares in ORLEN Lietuva are owned by Polish Concern PKN ORLEN. Since the acquisition of the Mazeikiai Refinery, PKN ORLEN, the largest company in Middle and Eastern Europe by revenues, has invested 1.9 billion LTL in modernization of its Lithuanian subsidiary.
