OREANDA-NEWS. April 20, 2012. Moscow Shipyard on April 20, launched the first boat of a series of six Multi Purpose Boats (project MPB14) ordered by Rosmorport for its Azov-Black Sea branch, the customer’s press office said.

The six boats contract is valued at RUB 170,9 m. The first craft was laid on Oct 5, 2011 and is to be completed this June.

The Project MPB14 vessels are designed to conduct survey of waterways, to take marine pilots, crew members, boarder guard officers, passengers to ships. The vessels are able to transport up to 0.5 tons of cargo, to participate in rescue operations.

The boat’s length is 13.98 m, breadth – 4.32 m, draft – 1.24 m, displacement – 15 tons, cruising range – 120 nm. The vessel features twin full-revolving rudder propellers manufactured by Volvo Penta IPS, which ensure high speed (about 22 knots), her high maneuverability and reduce fuel consumption compared with other types of systems, the report says.

Moscow Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Yard was founded in 1936. Throughout the years the company has built more than 1,800 vessels of overall length of more than 52,000 meters. The shipyard is specializing in the construction of river and lake passenger ships. Since 1999 Moscow Shipyard has been building research vessels and luxury yachts.
