OREANDA-NEWS. May 12, 2012. So far, the Corporation has gained experience, that is unique for Russia, in certification of structures under the BREEAM international green construction standard.

Experts estimate 10 Olympic venues, including a stadium, sports facilities and hotels, for conformity to this standard. Independent auditors started work at the stage of designing of these structures. All of the building construction and operation aspects should be environmentally safe - from transport availability and power efficiency of the utilities systems to the independent power generation and the use of environmentally friendly materials.

Gleb Vatletsov, Head of SC Olimpstroy Environmental Support Department, noted that as early as in 2009 the corporation elaborated additional environmental requirements and recommendations and then introduced its own ‘green’ standard that takes into account the particular features of the Russian legal framework and global standards. This enables to require that all of the Olympic construction participants should introduce the ‘green’ concepts.

"The experience we gained in international "green" construction standards will become one of the most important features of intangible Olympic legacy and will lay the foundations of the national standard development", emphasized Gleb Vatletsov.
