OREANDA-NEWS. June 05, 2012.  GE Capital Retail Bank’s business in Charlotte has partnered with the Parkview Community Center for their ‘Seeds of Growth’ project. The Center works with local, disadvantaged youth and the project helps expand the children’s experiences by providing them with new outdoor activities, such as planting and cultivating fruits and vegetables.

In addition to providing a charitable donation, GE volunteers helped expand outdoor seating, replaced the raised-bed vegetable garden, and cleaned the Center’s grounds. This was all done so the children could best utilize all the amenities of the Community Center. As a result, the children are provided with fun, interactive experiences they can enjoy for many years to come.

“Over the course of the last nine months, Parkview Community Center and GE Capital have enjoyed a great relationship. We have volunteered our time for three different projects that directly benefit the Center and the children they serve. We have already contributed over 200 volunteer hours, and we expect that number to grow as more employees get involved to assist with the growing needs in the community,” said project leader and GE Capital Retail Bank employee Karen Doepker.

GE Capital employees have volunteered 245 hours for one event, with the most recent activity being on Saturday, June 2, where the team successfully completed the Seeds of Growth project.
