OREANDA-NEWS. June 5, 2012. Belarus’ retail turnover, including the public catering sector, went up 7.5% on the year in January-April 2012 to 53.136 trillion Belarusian rubles (USD 6.47 billion at the central bank’s rate), an official with the National Statistics Committee told reporters.

Sales by public catering organizations grew 1.6% to 2.907 billion rubles.

Of the total, trade organizations accounted for 80.7%, and individual entrepreneurs and newly formed unitary companies accounted for the rest.

Belarusian-made consumer goods accounted for 74.6% of the retail trade turnover. The share of Belarusian foodstuffs was at 83.8%, Belarusian non-foods at 61.7% in retail trade.

The share of private companies in the total retail turnover was at 82.7% (85.3% the year before), state companies 11.5% (10.7%), while the share of foreign companies stood at 5.8% (4%).
