OREANDA-NEWS. June 8, 2012. The Governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District (Russia), Dmitry Kobylkin, and Eni CEO, Paolo Scaroni, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding which outlines the plan for the creation of joint socio-economic and cultural projects in the region. The project will be aimed at promoting future development and strengthening the long-term relations between the parties.

Eni and the Regional Authorities of Yamal-Nenets are committed to promoting joint initiatives for training in the Oil&Gas sector, they aim to contribute to the creation of programs for cultural and sporting events to be held in the provinces of the district, and to organize charitable initiatives and financial support in order to attract investment in the social sphere of the region.

The Memorandum signed today further represents Eni's commitment towards producing countries, through a model of cooperation that involves making long-term investments and providing solutions for the needs of local communities, in terms of local, economic and social development.

For the first time in its history, Eni has launched, the production of hydrocarbons in the Russian Federation from the Samburskoye field located in the Yamal-Nenets autonomous district, where the company has been operating since April 2007. The development of the Samburskoye field represents the first of four start-ups expected in Russia as part of Eni's four-year plan, which will lead to an equity production of over 200,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in Russia by 2019.
