OREANDA-NEWS. June 14, 2012. Share of small business in the total volume of GDP of Uzbekistan made up 39.9% in January-March 2012, which grew by 0.9 percentage points year-on-year.

Share of small enterprises and microfirms in the GDP production was 24.5% in January-March 2012 versus 23.7% in January-March 2011, the Uzbek State Statistics Committee said.

In January-March 2012, small business entities provided employment to 9.088 million persons (76.2% of total persons employed in the economy), including 6.96 million persons of individual sector and 2.128 million persons of small enterprises and microfirms.

The number of persons engaged in the private sector of small business was 8.471 million or 93.2% of total employment in the sphere of small business.

The sector produced industrial output for 2.307 trillion soums (20.4% of total industrial production), which grew by 22.5% year-on-year.

Small businesses utilized 1.309 trillion soums of investments (34.3% of total utilized investments), which rose by 27.5% year-on-year.

The sector executed construction works worth 1.42 trillion soums (67.9% of total construction works), which increased by 23.3% year-on-year.

Small businesses ensured the growth of freight turnover of motor transport by 7.7% (78.5% of total freight turnover) and passenger turnover - by 7.3% (87.5% of total passenger turnover).

The sector formed 47.6% (3.579 trillion soums) of total retail trade turnover (the growth rate – 13.6%) and 39.1% (1.19 trillion soums) of total paid services (+10.9%).
