OREANDA-NEWS. June 14, 2012. Ilim Group’s Ust-Ilimsk Mill (Irkutsk Oblast) is preparing for the summer outage of its core process equipment scheduled for mid-July. The goal is to secure fault-free operation during the year and enhance industrial and environmental safety performance. RUB 40 million was earmarked for this purpose.

The work scope will also include improvement of Digester 1 reliability and performance. This will be achieved through replacement of current screens with four new high capacity screens supplied by Andritz. The result will be stable performance of the digester and uniform liquor extraction.

A valve tie-in in the activated sludge piping of the wastewater treatment area will facilitate piping repairs without a major shutdown. The wastewater treatment area will also benefit from implementation of the investment project involving distribution of industrial and domestic effluents with the aim to improve wastewater treatment quality.

The safety of hazardous facilities in the boiler and turbine area will be secured through replacement of steam pipes. Repair of the bark piping at the chip plant is another significant outage activity.

Pre-outage work will be supervised by a cross-functional task force team consisting of senior subject-matter experts and area managers. Reference information:
