OREANDA-NEWS. June 15, 2012. The Russian cargo carrier Volga-Dnepr Airlines has stationed one of its new cargo planes IL-76TD-90VD at the airport Leipzig / Halle. The upgraded version of the proven IL76 is more powerful and quieter than comparable aircraft.

The decision for the deployment of a cargo aircraft of new generation at the airport Leipzig / Halle explains Ivan Strelnikov, Deputy Commercial Director of Volga-Dnepr Airlines: “Stationing of our new aircraft in Leipzig/Halle airport will significantly reduce aircraft positioning costs for our German and European customers. The ideal location in central Europe and the maintenance base directly on the site allow us to effectively use our efficient cargo plane.”

A total of five machines of the type IL-76TD-90VD belong to the fleet of Volga-Dnepr Airlines. The aircraft is characterized by a tremendous performance; up to 50 tons of cargo can be transported. In addition, the machine belongs to the classification under Chapter 4 of the International Civil Aviation Authority (ICAO) of the quietest aircraft in its class. The fuel consumption compared with the previous model is reduced by 15 percent and increases the maximum range of 10,200 km. An on-board electric winches and lifts facilitate the loading of heavy loads.
