OREANDA-NEWS.  June 19, 2012. POSCO inaugurated the `Honorary Chairman Park Taejoon Memorial Project Organizing Committee` to honor his contributions to national development and entrepreneurial spirit, reported the press-centre of POSCO. 

Former CEO Hwang Gyeongro and CEO Chung Joonyang were appointed head of the organizing committee consisting of 20 members including 16 members of leading figures in each field such as Lee Baeyong, chairwoman of the Presidential Council on National Branding, and POSTECH Chancellor Kim Yongmin.

This memorial project will reflect on the accomplishments and passion of `The Steel King, Honorary Chairman Park Taejoon` who constructed the first integrated steelworks in Korea which had no foothold in steel and laid the cornerstone for industrial modernization and achieved great results in economic development, carrying out various projects in stages as a model to the people and following businessmen. The organizing committee will hold an unveiling event of the Honorary Chairman Park memorial at the National Cemetery in Seoul on June 26th, and install a statue each at Gwangyang and Pohang Steelworks, and a carve in relief at the POSCO Center.

Also, a book on (Cheongam Ideology) will be published covering the Honorary Chairman`s entrepreneurial spirit, great leadership, and management philosophies, while producing a drama (Steel King) covering the life story of the Honorary Chairman who devoted his life to the steel industry.

POSCO hopes that these memorial projects will serve as an opportunity for all POSCO and POSCO Family Company`s all employees to ruminate on Honorary Chairman Taejoon Park`s noble philosophy and bring everyone together to overcome the difficulties during the global economic recession. Furthermore, the Company hopes to serve as a guidepost for the people and entrepreneurs in designing future prosperity.

Meanwhile, the organizing committee will hold a quarterly meeting to review the project status and gather opinions of all levels of society for operation. In 2013, the organization will be transferred to the `POSCO TJ Park Foundation` for continuous and active operation.
