OREANDA-NEWS. June 20, 2012. On June 21, 2012 a roundtable “Power Industry Integration: In Search of a New Paradigm” organized by JSC “FGC UES” will take place within the framework of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2012 (SPIEF 2012). The event will take place in the territory of Lenexpo Exhibition Complex. Andrei Volkov, Dean of Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO, will act as the moderator of the roundtable.

The participants of the roundtable will discuss integration processes in the world energy sector, particularly, the conditions and opportunities of mutual integration of power systems of different countries, the prospects of creation of a unified energy market and build-up of power cooperation between the countries of the European Union, the Pacific Rim, and Russia. One of the key topics is the current trends of national energy markets development including the issues of innovative technologies implementation and smart grids design, the role of state in key economic sector regulation, as well as the issues of long-term investments attraction.

The representatives of federal authorities, directors of leading Russian and foreign energy companies and manufacturing companies of electric equipment, and competent Russian and foreign experts will take part in the discussion. Alexander Novak, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, Oleg Budargin, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC “FGC UES”, Vyacheslav Kravchenko, Chairman of NP Market Council, Sergey Novikov, Head of the Federal Tariff Service, Daniel Yergin, Chairman of the US Department of Energy's Task Force on Strategic Energy Research and Development, Fulvio Conti, President of Eurelectric, Liu Zhenya, CEO of the State Grid Corporation of China are expected to take part in the roundtable discussion.

Andrei Volkov, Dean of Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO, noted that the meeting will become the basis for an open dialogue on the issues of international integration processes and their influence on the development strategy of national energy markets and will make it possible to elaborate the key issues of innovative technologies implementation and smart grids design, and he hopes that it will become a milestone intellectual event in the industry.
