OREANDA-NEWS.  June 25, 2012. Belarus is ready to expand cooperation with Cambodia in all fields, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with Chairman of the National Assembly of Cambodia Heng Samrin.

“We are ready to cooperate with you in all fields, ready to boost our cooperation as much as your country needs,” the President of Belarus said.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, the ongoing visit of the Cambodian parliamentary delegation to Belarus is the start of a new era of the bilateral cooperation.

The Belarusian head of state emphasized that the two countries see eye to eye with each other across all the points of the international agenda. “We have no disagreements, unsettled issues, disputes regarding the international political agenda,” the President said. He expressed his appreciation to Cambodia for support to the Belarusian parliament in getting the observer status in the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.

Talking about trade and economic cooperation, the head of state said that the current USD2 million trade lags behind the economic potential of Belarus and Cambodia. “We can have a much bigger trade. To boost the trade, we need first of all to establish direct trade and economic links to avoid middlemen in our trade and economic transactions,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The Belarusian President emphasized the important role of the parliaments of Belarus and Cambodia in promoting the bilateral links. He gave great credit to MPs for their efforts to ramp up the bilateral ties.

Heng Samrin thanked Belarus for a warm reception and emphasized Cambodia’s intent to expand and strengthen ties with Belarus.
