OREANDA-NEWS. June 26, 2012. This week marks the publication by Braskem of its Annual Report 2011, which presents the results achieved in the corporate governance and economic social and environmental development areas, as well as other aspects of the company. The results demonstrate the excellent progress made on the path to fulfilling the 2020 Vision of Braskem, which is determined to become the world leader in sustainable chemicals. This progress was made possible by the company's efforts to strengthen Brazil's plastics production chain, to expand its business internationally (driven by the acquisitions of the polypropylene assets of Dow Chemicals in the United States and in Germany and by the start of construction on the Ethylene XXI project in Mexico), to improve performance in Environment, Health and Safety and to increase investments in innovation and in expanding its portfolio of renewable products. Ever since it began commercial production of green polyethylene, which is made from sugarcane ethanol, Braskem has been the world leader in the production of polymers made from renewable resources.
