OREANDA-NEWS. August 23, 2012. The Central District Court of Barnaul, Altai Territory, brought in a verdict on the criminal group of three persons who tried to receive insurance benefit under MTPL insurance from Ingosstrakh Insurance Company by fraud. It became possible to catch the criminals red-handed thanks to the actions of employees of the Information Analysis and Protection Department, Ingosstrakh Insurance Company.

As follows from the materials of the criminal case, the three residents of Altai Territory, Anatoly P. Maskaltsov born in 1978, Vladimir G. Kuznetsov born in 1989 and Roman A. Zybarev born in 1979, entered into a criminal conspiracy and decided to obtain an MTPL insurance payment by false pretences. For this purpose, they staged an accident with participation of a Toyota Sprinter Carib, insured under MTPL by Ingosstrakh Insurance Company, and a Toyota Ipsum. The drivers made a deliberate collision, and then the Toyota Sprinter Carib was driven to a ditch and made to turn over. Having recorded the accident, the swindlers addressed an expert organization to assess the cost of a complete renovation for Toyota Sprinter Carib. Considering all the damages, the cost of renovation amounted to 105,000 rubles. This very sum the swindlers requested from the Barnaul branch of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company as reimbursement for the damage caused by accident.

In the course of checking of declared damages, the employees of the Information Analysis and Protection Department of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company established that less than a month before the said accident, the Toyota Sprinter Carib was put on sale on one of the sites in the town of Belovo, Kemerovo Region, at a price of 50,000 rubles with the comment “turned over car.” Having compared the photo on the site and the Toyota Sprinter Carib provided by the swindlers, the specialists made a conclusion that this is the same car. Thus, the swindlers bought a broken down car and staged an accident in an attempt to obtain an insurance benefit in the amount of the cost of complete renovation.

Based on the information received, the specialists of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company submitted an application to the police department of Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Barnaul. As a result of operational procedures, the swindlers were detained by the police employees right after receiving the insurance benefit in the amount of 105,000 rubles at the cash desk of the insurance company’s branch. A criminal case was instituted on the basis of the fraud, which ended in trial. All the three criminal group participants were found guilty by court and received 1 year of suspended imprisonment. Besides, it was established in the course of the investigation that participants in accident fabrication also included the employees of State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (STSI) who contributed to registration of the swindlers’ broken down car. After these facts were established, these persons were dismissed from STSI.
