OREANDA-NEWS. October 10, 2012. AKME-engineering JSC (Russia) intends to engage Czech companies in implementation of project related to design development and construction of nuclear power plants with lead and bismuth coolant 100 MW reactor unit (SVBR-100) in the Russian Federation and other countries. This the first nuclear reactor project to be implemented in Russia that involves private funds (AKME-Engineering is a joint enterprise created in equal shares by State Corporation “ROSATOM” and OJSC “Irkutskenergo”).

The respective memoranda were signed with 13 Czech companies on October 9, 2012 in Prague within II International forum for nuclear vendors “Atomeks – Europe 2012”.

The agreements specify that these companies will be included into a long-term database of AKME-Engineering equipment and service vendors for nuclear power plants with SVBR-100 reactor, and will get an opportunity to become equipment and service suppliers for the nuclear power plants to be constructed by AKME-engineering in the Russian Federation and other countries.

“Presently AKME-engineering in coordination with OKB “Gidropress”, Head institute of VNIPIET, and Lepunsky Institute of Physics and Power Engineering carry out design works for reactor unit and nuclear power plant. Construction of a pilot power facility with SVBR-100 reactor unit is scheduled for 2015-2017, whereas start-up of the facility is planned for late 2017. AKME-engineering is also planning to commercialize the project and develop a program for construction of nuclear units abroad. The company is looking for reliable international partners able to provide production of high-quality and competitive components for SVBR-100 nuclear power plants. The chosen contractors will develop a database of long-term vendors to construct SVBR-100 facility for AKME-Engineering, and they will become the major component to minimize risks and diversify supplies”, said Director General of OJSC AKME-Engineering Vladimir Petrochenko.

One of participants, who signed the memorandum, is Chief Executive Officer of “PSG – International a.s.” Tomash Krones, who said: “Collaboration with AKME-engineering means for us a huge potential of company’s economic development in construction of new-generation power objects. Like the other participants who have signed the memoranda, we consider collaboration with the Russian partners to be a guarantee of high-quality and mutually beneficial work, which will lead to further development of national industry”.
